Restring

Replacing the strings on your guitar should be carried out regularly.
Depending on how often you play your guitar determines how often you have to change the strings.
Here is a rough guide to give you an idea.

  Play Change Strings

Professional gigging musician 7 days a week - once a week
Semi Professional twice a month - once a month
Amateur Once every - three months

You should never leave your strings on longer than 6 months as they go rusty, loose there tension and break.
Old strings start loose there shape and will go out of tune. you will not be able to get correct international With old strings.
You should also select the correct gauge of string for your guitar as every guitar has its truss rod set to a particular gauge of string. If you change your strings from 10's to 12's the action of the guitar will become higher and more difficult to play. the guitar will need to be set up for a heavier or lighter gauge of string if you decide to change your gauge.
